LiveFire: Ngmoco's first person shooter + Push Notification and In-App Purchases

Ngmoco and their CEO & Founder Neil Young (former EA Executuve Director) presented "LiveFire" on Apple's presentation last Tuesday.
LiveFire will be a First Person Shooter that takes full advantage of the new SDK 3.0 features. For example if you in the middle of a battlefield and you need some serous support it will be possible to send your teammate a request via push notification, what alerts directly to the users iPhone. A push looks similar to an SMS message. By accepting the invite the app will launch and taking the user directly into the FPS match, and this will be all possible from where ever you are via Wifi and 3G Network.
The new announced and in the presentation video showed "In-app Commerce" feature started a big discussion in game forums. The new feature allows users to purchase content packs and other product extensions from inside an installed app. Users and gamers are mostly worried that developers may abuse this system, but ngmoco made clear that they want to keep the balance and deal responsible with the upcoming SDK 3.0 Add On
With In-app Commerce, it’s important to point out that although it will be possible to purchase content and/or features directly within a game, ngmoco will always give the highest priority to game balance and the integrity of the core experiences of our games. We won’t use In-app Commerce in ways that break our games, but we do think there are a lot of interesting ways to use the feature to enhance our games over time. In this post I’ll shine a light onto some of the ideas we’re exploring internally. We want to consider external as well as internal feedback as we refine our thinking.
If you take a look at the gameplay preview video from LiveFire, u will see that ngmoco uses the seam control system as in Dropship. The "touch anywhere" system is now taken one step further and perfectly modified for a first person shooter. It looks like ngmoco will be the first developing team that will bring a high quality first person shooter to the iPhone, as well bring a solid sulotion for the controling.
I showed how the “touch anywhere” controls work to allow for simultaneous movement, look/aim, crosshair zoom and jump (using shake). The control scheme for LiveFire is the next evolution in the ‘touch anywhere’ system first developed in our game Dropship and refined for FPS.
Stay tuned, we keep you posted ;)
